The Farmlink Project is a fast growing nonprofit on a mission to connect the billions of pounds of produce that would otherwise be wasted to feed people in need, reduce carbon emissions and heal the planet. Founded by college students amid the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020, Farmlink works to connect farms with surplus food to communities in need at scale. To date, we have rescued over 40 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste, delivering over 32 million meals to food banks across the country. Farmlink has raised more than $6.5 million in funding through individual donations, corporate sponsorships, and grants from foundations. The Farmlink Project is staffed entirely by young volunteers with an average age of 21. As our movement has scaled, we are looking for exceptional candidates to become one of our first full-time employees as the Chief Financial Officer.


The Chief Financial Officer will have the overall managerial responsibility for The Farmlink Project fundraising programs and financial stewardship. Candidates must have proven experience fundraising for a similar nonprofit agency.


  • Oversee The Farmlink Project’s high-level fundraising activities. Create and implement a development plan to scale The Farmlink Project’s existing fundraising levels through innovative fundraising channels

  • Work closely with the Fundraising Team Lead (student volunteer position) to ensure that the day-to-day fundraising activities of The Farmlink Project are on track (activities include grant writing, outreach to corporate sponsors, donor calling, social media fundraising, and the development of seasonal fundraising campaigns)

  • Act as the liaison between The Farmlink Project and external parties, including but not limited to: executives at partner corporations, charitable foundation directors, key large donors, accountants, lawyers, and auditors

  • Supervise Farmlink financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and accounting

  • High level financial strategy 

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excited to work with young volunteers in a fast-paced start-up environment 

  • Self-starter with a proven ability to adapt in a dynamic environment

  • Creative, innovative thinker with out-of-the-box problem solving skills

  • Minimum three years working in the nonprofit sector, including experience in fundraising and fiscal management

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university

  • Experience working with external auditors, compliance, and regulatory oversight

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
